What’s in my Make Up Bag

For my first blog post I thought I would start off with the basics – what’s in my make up bag, or in other words my make up essentials!

I think that it is important for women to find the ‘staple’ make up items that we trust and love. Everyone will have different essential items, it all depends on the individual! It doesn’t matter what brand of make up you use, just whatever you feel comfortable wearing and that is within your budget and availability. Below is an image of items I must always keep in my make up bag because I use them every day.

My essential items include:

– Foundation primer
Not everyone believes in primers, however I find that they make my foundation glide on like a dream and make my make up last so much longer. I have extremely oily skin, and the Laura Mercier Oil Free Primer is the only primer that keeps my oil under control for most of the day and makes my foundation apply evenly.

– Foundation
Foundation evens out the skin and hides any unwanted imperfections. The foundation that I am currently loving is the Estee Lauder Double Wear. It has medium-full coverage and because of this I find that I generally don’t need to wear concealer. However, if I have a really prominent spot on my face I love using the Nars Creamy Concealer.

– A setting powder
For several months now I have been using the Jane Iredale pressed mineral powder. It is all natural and leaves the skin with a satin appearance. It does the job of keeping my foundation in place for the day.

– Bronzer and Blush
If you are feeling under the weather or having a dull day, bronzer and blush can add life to the face. Both also help to contour the face and reveal your features and beauty. I love the Nars blush in ‘Deep Throat’ and the Nars contour kit in ‘Paloma’.

– Mascara and Eyelash Curler
Mascara and eyelash curlers simply make anyone looked more polished, refreshed and awake. It is a must for me seeing as though I have very fair eyelashes that look invisible unless they are coated with mascara. I go through a lot of mascara, therefore I don’t like to spend a lot of money on them. Pictured above is the Rimmel Wonderful Mascara with Argan Oil and Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler.

– Brow powder
Like mascara, brow powder makes the face look more polished. Eyebrows frame the face, so I think that it is important to have nicely groomed and shaped brows. My eyebrows are also very fair, so unless I fill them in with brow powder they look shapeless and dull. When my brows are filled in my face is instantly lifted. You can’t go wrong with Anastasia Beverly Hills products. I only trust the Anastasia products when it comes to my brows.

– Nude and red lipstick
For me personally, lipstick is an essential item! I absolutely love lipstick and I don’t feel like I am fully dressed unless I have a coat of lipstick on. If you aren’t the type to own a rainbow of lipstick colours just stick to the basics – nude and red. You can never go wrong with either shade, and they will both go with almost any outfit. When it comes to nude lipsticks my favourite is MAC’s ‘Faux’. And red… oh boy. My absolute all time favourite, hands down, is ‘Dragon Girl’ by Nars. My search for my holy grail red lipstick is well and truly over. ‘Dragon Girl’ without a doubt takes the cake!

So there you have it, my make up bag essentials! Leave a comment below to let me know what is in your make up bag, and what products you can’t live without.
