Too Faced Lash Injection Mascara Review

Alright, I am about to get my rant on here. I generally blog about the great products I come across, however this post is about a product that I think is so terrible I simply had to spread the word.

I have always vowed to never spend ridiculous prices on mascara. I generally snatch all of my mascaras up whenever Priceline is having a sale for around $10-$15.

Recently, I needed a new mascara since my other one had been used up and dried out. I was shopping in Mecca Maxima at the time I remembered I needed a new mascara, so of course I decided to pick one up while I was there.

I had heard pretty awesome things about Too Faced’s Better Than Sex mascara, so I wandered over to the Too Faced section to pick it up but much to my dismay it was all sold out (sad face).

The only choice left for me in the Too Faced range was their Lash Injection mascara. It was $29, so I thought I suppose that wasn’t too bad for a higher end brand considering that is the price of most drugstore mascaras.

Anyway, I purchased the Too Faced Lash Injection mascara with much enthusiasm. This enthusiasm was very short lived. When I got home and tried out the mascara, it was terrible. In fact, singlehandedly the worst mascara I have ever used. Ever.

Too Faced says this product is, “Our cutting-edge, waterproof formula with three-dimensional polymers wrap around each lash, creating dramatic depth and volume. This amazing formula gives you lashes that are bold, intense and as multi-dimensional as you are.” Hmm, I don’t think so.

Here are the reasons why Lash Injection was the worst mascara I am yet to use:

1. Barely any of the damn product made it onto my lashes. The brush was so hard to use, and the formula was really weird and sticky, so the product just would not comb through onto my lashes. Because I was trying so hard to get the stuff onto my lashes, it ended up all over my eyelids and under my eyes as well. Grr.

2. The product dried up so quickly so as you would imagine, it was very difficult to build up ‘coats’ of mascara.

3. It flaked something shocking. Not even just at the end of the day, but at least an hour after application.

4. My lashes looked like tarantula legs.

I opened up the tube a couple of days ago, and this is what the brush looked like:

Look at that! Look at all of that product just glued to the brush so disgustingly that you can’t even see the bristles! Yuck. I have personally never experienced a mascara go that clumpy to the point where you can’t even see the bristles. This image was taken after the product had been unopened for around two weeks.

Okay, so rant over. I hate to be so negative about something, but I was honestly so disappointed in this product. Despite this, I do love so many other Too Faced products and their Better Than Sex mascara is so amazing (it’s currently my favourite mascara).

Have you ever used this product? And if so, please tell me whether you had a positive or negative experience with it.

G xx

  1. I have never used this! But that looks awful! Are you able to take it back or anything? It almost makes me think it was defective. Wow! I have used the Better Than Sex Mascara and it was okay. I know that there are mixed reviews on it and different things work on different people. Thanks for sharing this though! 🙂 x

    1. In Australia it is very difficult to return cosmetics so I didn’t bother! 😦 but yes, super disappointing. Do you have a favourite mascara? I’m on the hunt for my holy grail. Thanks for reading! 🙂 xx

      1. Well I really loved Urban Decay’s Perversion Mascara and I have a sample of Tarte’s Lights Camera Lashes which is nice too but not as volumizing as Urban Decay’s. I just recently tried a new drugstore one by Maybelline called Lash Sensational that I really like so far. I am not sure what brands you care in Australia but I am always on the hunt my holy grail too lol. 🙂 xx

      2. I will have to see if Lash Sensational is available here! Thanks for the recommendations 🙂 xx

  2. This is terrible, thanks for highlighting this and I will do well to avoid avoid avoid it at all costs. I’d be swayed towards thinking this product is faulty also, maybe it’s really old/out of date!? I can only hope that’s true as that is the only good reason for something so expensive doing such a bad job! Have you brought it to Too Faced’s attention? I’d be tempted to review it on their site or Tweet them about it!

I’m not sure how you get on with Benefit products but I combine both of their current mascaras daily and get amazing results. Also, they are releasing a new one in the next few weeks called Roller Lash, I’ve posted about it previously on my blog x

    1. It really is so disappointing, especially since I love other Too Faced products! Mecca Maxima normally keep their stock fairly up to date, but I suppose it’s possible it was old or maybe even faulty. I will definitely look into bringing this to Too Faced’s attention as this product really isn’t acceptable.

Awesome, thanks for the recommendation! I used a sample of Benefit’s They’re Real! One time and loved it, but I will look into the Roller Lash mascara. Thanks for reading! x

  3. Omg that sucks 😞
Thank u so much for this post babe, I recently talked about
my awful experience with Lancôme hypnose.
Like yourself I only like to include things that are good in my posts but I just couldn’t do that with this one lol

    1. It really does suck! Yes I read your post! Sometimes something is so bad you just have to talk about it! 😦 thanks for reading! Hope you are well xx
