You know that feeling when you are so happy you feel like your life is so complete? Like after you’ve been on an amazing first date, just fallen in love with someone, got an amazing grade in your assignment, just discovered an amazing song or something along those lines? That is how I am feeling at the moment – although not because of any of those reasons *nervous laughter*.
This euphoric feeling I am experiencing is purely due to an amazing make up combination I tried out today. And maybe because I am loving my University course at the moment and a couple of other personal things – but mainly because of the make up look. I kind of feel like I have unlocked the secrets of the universe… Well, not really, but you know.
Yesterday afternoon I was feeling down and out – I don’t know why. I had no reason to be in a mood, but I just was. So, I took a trip to Mecca Maxima to brighten up my life. I knew a new Nars lipstick would cheer me up, so I picked up a new matte colour in Tonkin. I saw it, liked it, grabbed it and didn’t think that much of it until this morning when I put it on. Oh my goodness, I am actually in love. I love Tonkin more than MAC’s Twig and possibly any other lipstick I own (besides Nars Dragon Girl because duh, it’s my signature shade.) Not only is the shade literal perfection, but it also feels silky and nourishing on the lips, which surprised me because it was a matte. The lasting power of this baby is incredible and did not budge through a full day of me eating, drinking, studying and chatting non-stop. I highly, highly recommend this tube of perfection.
This morning I felt the need to whip out my good ol’ Stila In The Light palette. I hadn’t used this since I received my Too Faced Holiday palette for Christmas. I didn’t realize how much I missed this perfect little palette! I just love it so much. The colours are literal perfection, the shadow stays on all day long, and there is no fall out upon application. Today I used the shades Bliss and Sunset all over my lid, Gilded Gold in the crease and Kitten in the inner corner of my eye. I used Ebony (the black shade) on my lash line and the Smudge Stick Eyeliner in Damsel on my waterline. I prefer to use black eye shadows on my lash line as opposed to a liquid liner because it creates a softer look. If anybody is interested in some swatches I am happy to do a post showing all the shades up close.
To top it off, I got my nails re-done this morning before I went off to University. I have the most amazing nail tech ever (I love you, Electra!) She is so funny and sweet and never says “no” to a request. Today she created the negative space look with black on my nails, and I think they look so cool. This look was inspired by the amazing Samantha Ravndahl. I feel like a bit of a Sass Queen with these bad boys, I won’t lie.
My nails have acrylic overlay on them, however no tips at the moment since they grew out so the length is my natural nail. The polish is a Barbie Gel in black (well, obviously). And yes, the Barbie Gel is legit and produced by Mattel.
The particular shades I used from the Stila palette in combination with my Nars Pure Matte lipstick in Tonkin was a literal match made in heaven. I received so many compliments on my make up today and I think this is a look I will be wearing a lot in the future.
