When it comes to high end designer cosmetics, I am definitely a Chanel kind of gal. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Dior and YSL however to me there is just something about Chanel. Maybe it’s the fact that Coco Chanel and I both share the same love for the colour Beige (this is legit. Coco Chanel’s favourite colour was Beige, and so is mine).
Out of all the Chanel products I’ve owned and loved, there are a couple of classic standouts for me.
- Mousse Exfoliante Purete
This cleanser used to be apart of my daily skincare routine. I really like the pearly, creamy texture of this cleanser. This product lathers up nicely and the exfoliating beads help to take off any dead skin cells. The beads are relatively gentle, so this cleanser is fine for daily use. Because this product lathers up so well you only need a small amount, so it does last quite a long time which is great considering it is quite expensive. This product feels like it really digs deep and cleans out the skin, although never leaves it feeling dry and tight.
- Perfection Lumiere Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Makeup SPF 10
I love (almost) everything about this foundation. It is oil-free, contains a little bit of SPF, has a lovely consistency, can create full coverage, smells like sweet roses and has a matte finish. So what’s not to love? The colour. Eurgh. Unfortunately, at the time I purchased this I was going through an, “I want to be pale, to hell with fake tan!” phase in my life. I do not think there is anything at all wrong with being pale. I would love to go out and about without wearing fake tan. But honestly, I just don’t suit it and everyone that knows me tells me I don’t suit being pale. I am envious of people who can pull off beautiful porcelain skin! Anyway, despite the colour being wrong for me (12 Beige Rose), I love everything else about this foundation.
- Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15
At the beginning, I had a love-hate relationship with this foundation. I just couldn’t seem to grasp the hang of applying it because of its light formulation. I tried applying it with a brush and just with my fingertips, however the foundation just wasn’t showing up on my skin. In the end, I realized the best way to apply it was by patting it onto the skin. Because it is so lightweight, I found this to be the best way to build up coverage. I adore the feel of this foundation on the skin. It feels so light and as though you aren’t even wearing makeup! If you are after quite sheer coverage this is the foundation for you. Again, this foundation smells like sweet roses. A lot of people complain about this but I really love the smell.
- Le Blanc De Chanel Sheer Illuminating Base
I purchased this primer to wear underneath my Vitalumiere foundation. It helped to create a very smooth and illuminated canvas for foundation application, and I liked the fact that it doesn’t feel greasy and oily. Although I had a positive experience with this primer, I do know a lot of people feel like it caused them to breakout. This is a really great product, however I know there are better primers out there for less money.
- Mat Lumiere Luminous Matte Powder Makeup SPF 10
This is a gorgeous setting powder to be applied over the top of your foundation. I always used this over the top of my Vitalumiere Aqua, and it made my skin look so matte, fresh and very ‘Chanel-looking’. This probably makes no sense, but the finish that this powder created on my skin just looked very high end. Imagine the flawless matte skin the Chanel models sport on the runway and in the advertisements – that’s how this powder makes your skin look.
- Coco Mademoiselle Fragrance
This scent is just pure heaven. It is so feminine, so chic, so Chanel. It will forever be my favourite Chanel fragrance. If you know me you know that I very rarely repurchase the same product. However, I continue to repurchase this fragrance each time it runs out.
- Coco Mademoiselle Fresh Body Lotion
I received a gift set for Christmas and it contained the Fresh Body Lotion to accompany the Coco Mademoiselle Fragrance. Normally the body lotions that come with perfumes aren’t overly moisturizing, but this lotion is so luxurious. The skin feels so balanced and supple and the scent is to die for.
I don’t regularly purchase Chanel products, so whenever I do it is a special treat! I would love to hear all about your favourite higher end brands and your favourite products in the range.
