A couple of weeks ago Urban Decay launched in Australia at Mecca Maxima after much anticipation!
I had never tried any Urban Decay products before but I had heard excellent things about the brand. I picked up the Naked 2 Palette, a primer, a setting spray, a prep spray and of course the foundation.
I do normally fake tan although I will be coming into winter soon. I am planning on only using a gradual tanner since I will be wearing long sleeves most of the time so there isn’t much point in tanning each week. Because of this, I decided to pick up the shade that matches my natural skin colour which was 1.0 – the second lightest shade.
The first thing I noticed about this foundation was how watery it is. When you apply the foundation it feels like you are just smearing water across your face, and it reminded me a lot of the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation. I think Chanel must have changed the formula of that foundation because when I purchased it a couple of years ago the consistency was very watery like the Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation is, although now it is a lot thicker.
I applied this foundation with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, which is what I use when applying any type of foundation or BB cream. I must say that considering the very watery consistency, the foundation did provide very good coverage! I was really surprised because normally foundations that are watery are quite sheer. In order to cover most of my acne scarring, I applied two coats of the foundation. My concealer is too dark over the top of this foundation because it is suited to the darker foundation colours I normally wear with my fake tan, so luckily I didn’t need it. Coverage is definitely buildable with this foundation which is perfect. After I had finished applying the foundation I noticed how great my skin felt! It honestly didn’t feel like I was wearing foundation at all.
This foundation lasted for an entire busy 10 hour day without budging one bit. My skin looked so fresh by the time I got home, and it honestly looked like I had only just applied my make up!
I am super impressed with the Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation, and I would really like to pick up a darker shade for the times I do fake tan! My only issue is that I am trying to save my money because I am going on holidays with a friend in a couple of weeks! Perhaps I will hold off from buying it for now and get it while I’m on holidays so that I can justify the purchase as a holiday expense (wink).
Have you tried this foundation before?
