Amazing Base | Drugstore Favourites

I am feeling confident enough to say that I think I have stumbled upon my holy grail foundation and under-eye concealer. That’s right, my holy grail products. And no, they are not by NARS, Bobbi Brown, or Stila. In fact, they are both drugstore products!

So, what products am I speaking of exactly?

The Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Nude foundation and the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer. Ahh.

I will start off by talking about why I love the Rimmel foundation so much:

So basically there is a story as to how I bought this product. I feel like I always have some kind of story to tell you guys… Anyway, I went into Priceline thinking that I was going to pick up another Bourjois foundation in a lighter shade however, the Priceline I went to didn’t stock all of the shades in the Bourjois ranges. This really ticked me off because I really wanted a Bourjois foundation. So, I walked around the store testing almost every foundation I came across. I noticed the new Covergirl foundation was on sale except I am not exactly a fan of the Covergirl products. So I didn’t pick it up despite the temptation. I was getting super frustrated by this point as I had been in the store for well over 40 minutes. I was about to walk out when I realised I hadn’t checked out the Rimmel foundations, which all happened to be on sale for $10. I had seen a tutorial that EssieButton posted on her YouTube channel where she used the Rimmel Lasting Finish foundation, so I picked it up in my shade and didn’t think much else of it.

The following day when I took the plastic off and began to twist the lid, I realised that there is a pump underneath the white lid. This made me really excited because I thought that this product only had a twist lid and therefore I would have to just pour the product out onto my hand. I used my Real Techniques Buffing Brush, because that was the brush Essie used in her video, and began to blend this marvellous foundation into my skin. It applied so flawlessly and my skin looked like perfection instantly! It is the perfect consistency for me because it isn’t too watery and it isn’t too thick. Although the Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation is nice and light, I prefer working with foundations with consistencies like the Rimmel one because I find I need way less product and they make my skin look more flawless. This product says it only provides medium coverage, but I feel like it gives in between medium and full coverage – if that makes any sense at all. It covered up my skin so well to the point where I literally needed no concealer. This foundation leaves a semi-dewy finish on the skin and I like it so much that I don’t apply a setting powder afterwards.

This product stays on all day long without fading or causing the skin to get oily – and this is all without a setting powder over the top. I receive so many compliments about my skin whenever I wear this product. I am literally obsessed with this foundation!

Onto the Maybelline concealer:

So, I have another short story to tell you all about this product. Basically, it has been sold out for so long so I haven’t been able to get my hands on it until now. I wanted to try this product so badly because EssieButton raves about it and she said it is one of the only products that cover her dark circles effectively.

Like Essie, I also have always had an issue with dark circles under my eyes. I have never, ever been able to find a product that covers them effectively so I kind of just gave up. My NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer did a pretty good job of covering most of the darkness, however it never fully covered it up.

This concealer is actually magic. The smallest amount goes such a long way and it covers up my dark circles! Like, completely! I couldn’t even recognise myself when I first used this product because I just looked so different. For once I looked like I had enough sleep the night before, even though I always get at least 8 hours each night. This product does not crease or fade or irritate my eyes. So, it is an absolute winner for me.

I am super happy with the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Nude foundation and the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer. These products have seriously changed my everyday base game, and they make me look flawless, fresh and awake.

Have you tried these products before?

G xx

  1. The Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer is my absolute favorite, too. I use it every day and have probably gone through 3 tubes in the last year. I’ve been on a foundation kick lately, so I can’t really justify buying another one, but I’ll have to keep the Rimmel one in mind the next time I’m looking for one from the drugstore.

    1. That’s great that you love the concealer too! I don’t think I can ever go back now! Haha. Thanks for reading 🙂

  2. I have the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer and I am still thinking about it. It works well and all but it just seems like no matter what concealer I try it settles into the fine lines underneath my eyes. Some people love it, some people don’t love it but I like it. 🙂

    1. Oh that’s a shame! It didn’t crease on me like most products normally do thankfully. Hopefully you find a concealer that doesn’t settle into the fine lines soon! 🙂

      1. Well I just recently bought the Maybelline Master Conceal Concealer and I have used it once and so far it’s looking good! 🙂

    1. You definitely do! In my opinion the Maybelline concealer is way better at covering up dark circles than the NARS concealer! xx
