Surviving Winter | The Essentials

I won’t lie, I honestly love winter. I love the fashion, the cold, and being able to cosy up with a blanket, a cup of tea and a good book. Ahh.

In saying that, winter can be brutal on our skin. I have put together a list of my favourite products to combat the excessive dryness and discomfort caused by the cooler weather.

  • Dermalogica Clear Start All Over Toner

This really is a wonderful hybrid product. While some breakout fighting products can leave the skin feeling tight and dry, this product actually quenches thirsty skin. My skin loves the comforting ingredients in this product such as Argan, Lavender and Camellia Sinesis Oils. Simply spritz this on after cleansing your face and your moisturisers will also absorb better.

  • Go-To Skincare Very Useful Face Cream

Powerful hydrating ingredients: tick. Free radical fighting antioxidants: tick. Lightweight: tick. What more could you want in a moisturiser? I have spoken about this product several times on my blog and that’s because it’s so dang good. My skin is always left feeling so hydrated and comforted after using this product.

  • Mecca Cosmetica Lit From Within Primer

Our skin can look a little ‘blah’ when it’s cold. This is the perfect primer to use during the cooler months when our skin is looking dull. It gives the skin a subtle glow underneath make up and keeps the skin ultra hydrated.

  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder

In winter I double up on the illuminating products for that extra glow. I love using an illuminating powder to set make up, such as the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder – you will positively glow.

  • EOS lip balm

In Australia these lip balms aren’t readily available, however I really wanted to try them out so I ordered one off Beautybay. I loved it instantly and I can see why they are so popular. They smell amazing and keep my lips so hydrated in the cold.

  • Crabtree and Evelyn Lavender Hand Therapy

It’s no secret that I love the scent of Lavender. I think that the Crabtree and Evelyn hand creams are some of the best out there because they smell delicious and are so moisturising.

  • Lush Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub

Exfoliation is a must all year round, but particularly during winter to get rid of those dull dead skin cells. I have been loving using this Lush scrub because it smells really fresh and you can use it on dry or wet skin.

What are your favourite products during winter?

  1. Totally agree on needing a hydrating primer! In winter I need an extra-nourishing face mask like Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey, and I’ve been enjoying the Too Faced Hang Over Primer in the last few days. x
