Skin Stuff

Taking care of my skin is super important to me. I believe that it is vital to use quality products on your skin. You don’t have to necessarily use ‘expensive’ products, but you should use what works best for it whatever that may be!

Lately I have started incorporating some new products into my skincare routine and I am super happy with the results so far. I recently started to develop Perioral Dermatitis around my nose and chin (and I am currently on antibiotics to treat it), but these products have not irritated me at all. It is really difficult to pinpoint the cause of my Dermatitis as so many things can cause it. As well as my first time case of Dermatitis, my skin is super dehydrated, sensitive and is prone to breakouts. I do experience a lot of blackheads and whiteheads also.

At the moment my skin is reacting really well to the products below – please note this isn’t my ‘skincare routine’, but just a couple of items I am currently incorporating into my routine.

The Cleansing Oil by La Mer

I have been using this to remove my makeup at night time. I love it because it feels pretty light for an oil and it removes my make up so well. It leaves my skin feeling so balanced and fresh and it doesn’t leave any oily residue behind. I love the colour of the product too. It is a gorgeous emerald green colour and it has a gorgeous pearly shimmer that sparkles when the product is lightly shaken.

Properly Clean Cleanser by Go-To Skincare

I have used this cleanser before and it was so good I had to re-purchase it. It smells like heaven – a bit gingery, a little sweet, and very citrusy. It is light and foamy in consistency and a little bit goes a long way. It is so effective at cleaning my skin without drying it out and it has done such a good job of keeping my skin blemish free.

Grain and Grit Gentle Cleansing Exfoliant by Mieux Derma

Mieux Derma is an Australian skincare company founded in Melbourne that is inspired by French sophistication and Chinese medicine. The company was generous enough to send me a couple of products to try out and I can honestly say my skin is loving them. I am obsessed with the Grain and Grit exfoliator as it is super gentle to use and leaves my skin sparkling. It smells like peppermint and all I can think about is ‘so fresh, so clean’ when I use it. The best part about this product is that the grains are very fine and gentle so they don’t damage the epidermis. Sidenote: all the Mieux Derma products have the coolest names.

Petite Face Mask by Mieux Derma

I can practically feel this Lemon Myrtle scented kaolin clay mask sucking out any impurities each time I use it. This is one of the best clay masks I have used because it actually makes a visible difference to my skin. It leaves my skin looking so clear and feeling as soft as a kitten (and kittens are pretty soft).

CC Cream by Chanel

Not another one!” I hear you say. Yes, yes we all know I am obsessed with BB Creams, tinted moisturisers, CC Creams and the like, but I really couldn’t resist this product. To be honest, it is one of the best purchases I have made and I think it is well worth the price. I have been applying this product with my fingers each morning after my skincare routine, which cuts down my getting ready time dramatically. I was super impressed with the coverage of this product! It doesn’t mask everything on my skin (which is perfect for me as I like my skin to look like skin), but it seems to just ‘know’ what I want covered. It gets rid of any major scars or blemishes I have while letting the freckles on my nose and minor scars (that kind of look like freckles anyway) shine through. I think this product has also improved my skin’s texture and it doesn’t break me out. It also has SPF30 in it – we all know I am a sunscreen junkie. I think this product is magic…

Morning Frost by Mieux Derma

This product really intrigues me. It is a coffee scrub, but also a body wash, that is designed to be used daily to banish bacteria on the body. So essentially you apply it how you would a body scrub but it sort of foams up like a body wash – very cool. It leaves my skin feeling so clean. We need to take a moment to appreciate how smooth it makes your skin feel too. If you want my advice use it before date night (if you know what I mean…).

Repair and Care Body Lotion by Nivea

The other day the skin on my body was super itchy, so I looked down only to notice I looked like a reptile. My skin was so dry and scaly! I really didn’t fancy looking like the skin that had just been shed by a snake, so I headed into Priceline and picked up this moisturiser as the label says it is for ‘very dry’ skin. I felt instant relief when I applied this after my shower that night and the next morning I was no longer a Godzilla replica. This has done such a good job of keeping my super dry skin hydrated – I can’t get enough of this moisturiser.

What skincare products are you loving right now?

G xx
