What I Think Every Woman Should Own

I believe there are some essential beauty items that every woman should own in her lifetime. The following items are like my backbone and I couldn’t ever be without them.

  • An eye shadow palette that can take you from day to night

My favourite eye shadow palette is the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette as it compliments my blue eyes quite well. Eye shadow can be used to enhance eye shapes and colours – it really makes such a different to your overall look. When looking for your perfect palette think about how you typically like to do your make up and what colour clothing you wear, then pick a palette with shades to suit that. Try to pick a palette with varying shades of lights, mattes, shimmers and darks so you can create a multitude of looks.

  • Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat

This magic pen is a cult product for a reason. Touche Eclat can be used as both a highlighter and concealer. It instantly adds dimension and life to the face, and as you can see the sleek gold packaging is gorgeous. This is also the perfect product for travellers as it is so compact and can be used in so many different ways.

  • An under-eye concealer

As Bobbi Brown says, “There is not a woman alive who doesn’t look more polished when wearing under-eye concealer.” Wearing concealer instantly makes anyone look more awake and polished! My favourite under-eye concealer is the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind. I have naturally very dark, puffy under-eyes and this is the only concealer that covers almost all darkness. It also helps with my puffiness too.

  • A BB Cream, CC Cream or tinted moisturiser for off-duty days (or everyday if you wish)

Lately I have been loving wearing a BB, CC or tinted moisturiser because it makes my skin look so fresh and radiant yet not too ‘done up’. Generally speaking though, I wear this look on weekends when I want to look casual and relaxed but still polished. I have been loving the Chanel CC Cream as it makes my skin look so smooth and even, provides me with some SPF protection, and covers any redness while letting any slight freckle or scar (that looks like freckles anyway) shine through.

  • A super nourishing lip balm

We put our lips through so much – talking, eating, drinking, kissing and lip stick wearing. It only makes sense to own a lip balm that purely nourishes the lips and isn’t just a temporary fix that results in the lips becoming drier later on. I love Go To Skincare’s Lips! Lip balm which contains nourishing ingredients like ultra medical grade lanolin, shea butter, avocado oil, and primrose oil to name a few.

  • Good quality make up brushes

Unless you are going to apply your make up with quality brushes – forget it. You don’t have to purchase expensive make up brushes, just good quality ones. I only ever buy Real Techniques brushes because in my opinion they are some of the best and really affordable! In the past I have spent over $100 on a single make up brush from a high end brand only for all the bristles to fall out after a couple of uses. In Australia, Real Techniques brushes sell for around $25 on average. I always recommend Real Techniques because they have always worked so well for me and apply my make up flawlessly every time.

  • Signature perfume

A woman’s scent distinguishes her from the rest and leaves a lasting impression. It is important to find a scent that suits your personality, lasts on the skin, and encourages strangers to compliment how good you smell. My signature scent is ironically Chloe Signature. It is feminine and rosey and always lasts on me. Every time I wear Chloe I always receive compliments!

  • A Chanel lipstick

There’s nothing quite like a Chanel lipstick. One swipe gives me such a confidence boost! The packaging is also so sleek and stunning.

  • A good red nail polish

Who doesn’t feel glam with a stunning coat of red nail polish?

  • Shu Uemura eyelash curler

The Shu Uemura curler is undoubtedly the best on the market. It manages to grab each lash and successfully curl them, rather than ‘kink’ them. Curling your lashes makes such a difference to your overall look and helps to make the eyes look larger and ‘more awake’.

  • Sunscreen

Every day without fail I wear sunscreen. Even if my foundation, BB, CC, or tinted moisturiser has SPF in it I will still wear a sunscreen underneath my products because you simply can’t rely on your base to give you enough protection. Most of the time the SPF in your base is evaporated throughout the day, leaving you with no SPF protection. Wearing SPF 30, 50 or higher helps to prevent the aging process and melanoma from starting. I don’t know about you but I don’t fancy looking like an old leather bag – which is why I always wear SPF! I love the La-Roche Posay sunscreens because they feel super light and don’t break me out.

  • Eye Cream

Like most of my face, my under-eye area is super dry. I think a mistake a lot of people make is not starting to wear an eye cream early enough. I have been using an eye cream since I was a young teenager (mainly because I was so dry), but I’m so thankful I started early. Wearing an eye cream prevents fine lines around the eye area, hydrates and also helps with puffiness and dark circles.

    1. Ooh I haven’t tried that one before! I’ll have to 🙂 My favourite Chanel lipstick is the Rogue Coco Shine in Dialogue but I’d love a lipstick in the shade Pirate!

  1. hi..just found your blogs via GO-TO [love their products too]..you mention the Naked 3 for your blue eyes…which one would you suggest for Hazel eyes ..unfortunately i have to buy many products sight unseen!

    1. Hi! Awesome! I’m glad you love their products as much as I do. I think that the Naked 2 palette would look amazing with hazel eyes. There’s lots of taupes, and a couple of gold/shimmers in it that would be amazing!
