Most of us only just got the hang of contouring and now there is already a new make up trend – strobing.
If you are unfamiliar with the term strobing, it is when you simply use a highlighter to light up your cheekbones, nose, cupid’s bow, and below and above the eyebrow – plus anywhere else you want some glow! Some people say strobing is a fancy word for highlighting, however there is a difference between strobing and highlighting. When you highlight your face, you generally still use a bronzer to contour. Strobing is when you skip the bronzer altogether and only use highlighters on your complexion.
Although the weather is warming up, I have been gravitating towards strobing my face and skipping the bronzer completely. This doesn’t make sense when you think about it considering most people skip the bronzer in winter and use it more during the warmer months… Anyway, I have really been enjoying this look because it looks so fresh, clean and minimalistic.
My top three products for strobing are:
- Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizing Wand
I am so obsessed with this product right now, it is amazing! I use it as my everyday strobing product because it blends seamlessly into the skin and gives a pretty natural golden glow. If you rub the stick directly onto the skin it can rub off your foundation, so I just apply some to my finger and gently pat my face with the product – this way my base stays in tact!
- ColourPop Cosmetics Highlighter in Lunch Money
This is such a pretty golden highlighter with the coolest texture. It feels almost like a cream when you touch it but it applies like a powder. It is also really pigmented so a little bit goes a long way. When I go out I like to use this over the top of my Josie Maran stick.
- Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Palette
If you want to invest in a really great multi-purpose product, give this palette a try. It includes three amazing Hourglass Ambient lighting powders that can be used so many different ways. Some of the shades can be used all over the face or individually as highlighters.
What are your thoughts on the strobing trend?
