Bondi Sands Liquid Gold | Review

I’m always intrigued when a company brings out a new tanning product. When I first heard that Bondi Sands was bringing out the Liquid Gold Dry Tanning Oil, I was a little sceptical. Despite this, I took the plunge and decided to try it out.

The question a lot of people have asked me is, ‘how is the oil different to other tanning formulas?’ This product is well, a dry oil as the name suggests. The oil is supposed to nourish the skin and glide on easier than a mousse. As the oil is dry, it means it soaks right into the skin as opposed to leaving a slimy film all over your skin.

I was surprised with how quick and easy this product was to apply. It certainly does glide onto the skin with ease and it feels very luxurious and hydrating. I found it was definitely quicker applying the oil than a mousse or cream. The oil sprays out dark onto the skin, but as you begin to rub it in it does become clear. This can be tricky when you are just new to the product because you can’t exactly see if you missed a spot. To make things a bit easier I applied the product in front of a mirror so I could try and make sure I was covering all areas.

The bottle says you can dress and go after applying the oil as it doesn’t rub off onto your clothes. This would be handy if you woke up and decided you wanted to be tanned by the evening for a last minute occasion. As the skin can feel slightly tacky after application I definitely recommend wearing loose clothes. Personally I do prefer to sleep in the product. I was so thrilled when I woke up and my sheets were not covered in fake tan!

After marinating in the tan overnight I woke up to super golden, even and hydrated skin. I can easily say it was the most even, natural looking tan I have experienced so far. I thought that I would have missed a patch for sure, but thankfully I hadn’t. I have had the tan on for four days now and it is still looking perfect.

Overall, I am really impressed with the new Bondi Sands Liquid Gold Dry Tanning Oil. It definitely exceeded my expectations and I’m so glad I took the plunge and tried it out. If you are new to fake tanning I would recommend being careful when applying this as it can be tricking ensuring you have covered all areas! You can buy this product from the Bondi Sands website here or at Priceline here.

Love, Gracie

  1. Hey I just purchased this after seeing so many good reviews question thou did you apply to your face as well and if did it make your face feel oily and could u apply make up over when it’s dry

    1. Hi! I don’t usually apply tan to my face just because I use a lot of exfoliating skincare that takes the tan straight off (instead I just use a darker foundation). Since this product is a dry oil it sinks straight in so it shouldn’t make your skin oily – but if you do have oily skin normally you might find you do get a bit shiny. If you decide to apply it to your face wait until it has developed and rinse your face after a few hours then it will be fine to apply makeup. Just avoid makeup when it’s developing 🙂 hope this helps!
