Good quality makeup brushes are essential. Using decent makeup brushes cuts down makeup application time and helps your makeup look more flawless. A lot of my favourite makeup brushes are pretty affordable, but lashing out on certain brushes can be worth it. Always remember that a brush is just a tool and you can use it for anything! An eyeliner brush can also make a great lip brush for example.
My top 5 makeup brush list was a bit of a no brainer!
I use this for liquid foundation and powder. I can apply my makeup so quickly with this brush as it blends the product seamlessly into the skin. After all, you don’t want to be spending forever trying to blend foundation streaks do you?
I use this brush for almost everything, but I mainly use it to apply eye shadows. It can be used all over the lid, in the crease, brow bone, and below the lower lash line. It seriously moulds and contours to any part of the lid. If you are going to lash out on any brush it should be this. When I attended a MAC Masterclass a few months ago, the Senior Makeup Artist Carol Mackie used this brush for eye shadow, concealer and contouring. It is just so versatile.
This little brush is great for applying liquid eyeliner and eye shadow to the lid. It also makes a great lip brush for creating a sharp lip look. This brush also smudges shadows and liners really well to create a sultry smoky look.
This is one of the softest brushes I have ever used! It never sheds and it is cruelty free. I am currently using this brush to apply my mineral foundation and setting powders.
I actually use this brush for my bronzer rather than blush. I love how the end is narrow and perfectly contours my cheekbones. I can create chiselled cheekbones with this brush easier than the other brushes I have that are meant for contouring.
