The Faux Glow | MAYhem #6

If you walk around almost anywhere in Australia right now the most heard phrase would probably be, “it’s bloody cold!” A few degree drops in temperature sends us into meltdown. I personally love this weather but I’ll admit it does take a toll on the skin and can make you look a little dull. If you think because it’s winter you can slack off in the beauty department sorry but you are wrong my friend – now is when the real work begins. The only way to scrape by in the chill is to faux the glow.

Amp up the illuminating products

I’ve always been really confused with the whole ‘go dewy in summer and matte in winter’ thing. Shouldn’t it be the other way round? Typically we are oilier in summer and dryer in winter, so I’ve always thought winter was the best time to use illuminating products without looking like an oil slick.

Products: Laura Mercier Radiance Primer, Mecca Cosmetica Lit From Within Primer, RMS Magic Luminizer, Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Highlighter, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders, The Base by Lara Bingle Illuminator.

Self tan

There is totally nothing wrong with rocking a fair skin tone but if you find yourself missing your summer glow a light tan in winter can give you a confidence boost. If the thought of standing in the cold applying self tanner once a week terrifies you, try a gradual tanner in place of your moisturiser.

Products: James Read Express Bronzing Mousse, JBronze Rapid 2 Hour Tan, The Base by Lara Bingle Gradual Tanner, James Read Day Tan Body.

Take supplements

On top of a balanced diet, supplements are a great way to stay glowing and energised in winter. The right supplements can be that boost you need to help your skin glow.

Products: Fountain The Glow Molecule, The Super Elixir, Miss Vitality Clean Tea, Cilk Rosewater.
