I made my first Go-To Skincare purchase back in 2014 and wrote my first blog post about the brand early 2015. Ahh, memories. Since then, Go-To Skincare has been a brand that I repurchase time and time again. Why? Because it is so bloody good and works. I’ve had my fair share of skin problems in my time like perrioral dermatitis and serious cystic acne (ugh) and what I like about Go-To is that it doesn’t piss off my temperamental skin. Recently I have had a lot of people ask me about my thoughts on Go-To and while it’s obvious I love the brand, I thought I’d give another rundown on the prods.
Go-To Skincare was created by my absolute idol. The one and only Zoe Foster Blake. What’s not to love about Zoe? She is witty, sharp as a tack, has mad writing skills and has so much beauty knowledge to share with the world thanks to being a former beauty editor. She also gives pretty awesome dating advice (if you haven’t read Textbook Romance then I strongly recommend you do). Zoe is pretty much who I want to be in life, especially on the career front as an aspiring Beauty Journalist.
I have owned every Go-To product at some point, however I was so lucky to have received a new parcel from the Go-To team recently since they know how much I adore the brand and how many times I’ve repurchased everything. This isn’t a sponsored post – I just like to bang on about these products…
First cab off the rank is the cleanser. This is unique because it’s a PH balancing mousse and smells like a citrus, sherbet lolly of some kind. It does exactly what it says; it cleans all your products off your skin without stripping it and making it tight and dry.
Boy do I love a good chemical exfoliation. Exfoliating Swipeys contain gentle AHAs like Lactic Acid to delicately get rid of the dead skin cells without causing irritation and thin, weak skin. I rub the pads in circular motions around my face, leave them on for around one minute then rinse. My skin always feels soft, smooth and bright afterwards.
Not all heroes wear capes… but this one should. This guy is full of 10 powerful and potent oils to hydrate the skin, reduce any inflammation and fight free radicals. As someone with oily skin that has been prone to breakouts, I can always count on this product to calm down my skin and prevent breakouts. FYI, plant based oils don’t clog pores.
Very Useful Face Cream
I don’t mean to get all Kanye West on you but this is my favourite moisturiser of all time. I’d be a terrible beauty blogger if I didn’t try out new ones, but I always come back to this every time. When I don’t use it my face just doesn’t look and feel as good. Even though it’s jam packed with plant oils and is really hydrating my skin actually gets oilier when I don’t use it because it keeps me really balanced. It’s also full of antioxidants like CoQ10 and Amla Berry.
This product smells SO fricken good. It is a multipurpose balm that can be used on your body, in your hair, in the bath, whatever you want really. Oh and did I mention this not only contains 10 nourishing oils, butters and waxes but also some legit Monoi de Tahiti? I am super into body oils right now so I think I need to repurchase this stat.
Lips! And Pinky Nudey Lips!
You know how some lip balms dry your lips out therefore making you reapply them 100 times per day? Yeah these don’t do that. Lips! is just a clear lip balm and Pinky Nudey Lips! gives your lips, well, a pinky nudey tint that’s nice and cas’* for brunch with your friends or a low key date when you want to look like you put in effort but didn’t try too hard (feeling me?)
*has it been decided that cas’ is the correct way to abbreviate the word ‘casual’? Hit me up if you know.
I mentioned this product in my July favourites so you already know I love it. Read more about it here.
If you’re feeling a bit extra pick up these. They are silk pillowcases that prevent wrinkles and unlike cotton they don’t steal your skin’s moisture. I used to wake up with a red face and little sheet marks on my face but not anymore. Take that premature ageing.
I’ll also add no Go-To product contains parabens, PEGs, sulfates, GMOs, mineral oils, petrolatum, synthetic colours, and no animal testing goes on. The packaging is also an 11/10 for me.
On behalf of women around the world, thank you Zoe for creating bloody good, honest products!
