YSL All Hours Foundation Review

I feel like it’s been a long time since I’ve done a foundation review because for a while there I was sticking to the same old products. Thanks to a recommendation from HelloOctoberxo, I decided to purchase the YSL All Hours Foundation.

YSL claims this matte foundation has up to 24 hours wear, is waterproof and transfer-resistant. Normally I wouldn’t even attempt to use a foundation that is matte because they typically don’t sit well on my skin. I have oily skin but for some reason matte products break up on my face and make me look excessively oily. So, did the foundation live up to the hype for me?

I have been applying this foundation with my Hourglass Vanish Foundation Brush as it is nice and dense and gives such a seamless finish. When All Hours has been freshly applied it has more of a satin finish – I really wouldn’t say that it’s matte on me. I much prefer a satin look as I find matte foundations can look dry and cakey on the skin and accentuate any dry patches. I think because the foundation is more satin than matte it is really easy to apply and doesn’t go streaky. For the purpose of this review I will also add that I don’t use a primer with this foundation. I rarely use a primer at all these days to be honest because I think my skin prefers it when I use less products.

This foundation gives perfect coverage and a little bit really does go a long way. Since it is so pigmented I think the bottle would last you quite a while – but it really does depend on how much you use and how frequent you wear it. I find my skin still looks quite skin-like despite the intense coverage this foundation gives, purely because I don’t need to layer it.

This is a big call but so far, the All Hours foundation is the most long-lasting foundation I have ever used. I kid you not. By the end of the day or night, my face still literally looks flawless. The foundation doesn’t break up around my chin like some foundations tend to do by the end of the day, and it just stays looking super fresh. I do set my face with some powder, but this is nothing unusual for me. I use the same powders I have with my previous foundations, and nothing has lasted as well as All Hours on me. I spent most of last week wearing All Hours for a minimum of 12 hours each day and, hand on my heart, it looked almost as good as when I applied it that morning.

I think that this foundation is absolutely remarkable. It applies like a dream, looks fresh and flawless and has the best longevity. I literally cannot fault anything about this product, except for perhaps the price tag. In saying that, I don’t mind spending my money on expensive products as long as they work and do what they claim. This is a foundation I would definitely continue repurchasing and I highly recommend at least trying out a sample to see what you think.

If you have tried this foundation before I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
