Australian digital entrepreneur Elle Ferguson is the ultimate cool-girl. The TheyAllHateUs blogger is not only talented – she has awesome style, never-ending blonde locks and the ultimate golden tan. When Elle created her own tan line Elle Effect, I had no doubt that it would be exceptional and was a desperado to try it. You know that saying ‘you only want what you can’t have?’ well, Elle Effect sold out almost instantly upon the first few product drops which meant it took me a while to get my hands on it. Obviously, as a beauty junkie this only made me want the tan more. So, just how well did the tan stack up against other fantastic ones I have tried?

On the surface, the beauty industry seems overly glamorous and plastic and is often criticised as being superficial. At the roots, beauty is all about self-confidence. Beauty has little to do with how that red lipstick makes you look – it’s how that red lipstick makes you feel. I spoke to four industry professionals who shared with me their passion for beauty and making people feel their best.
Erin Norden, Owner of Clean Beauty Market
With her calming and personable nature, it was no surprise when Erin told me she enjoys being able to connect with people at her store, Clean Beauty Market. “Even though it sounds a bit silly when you talk about products, it’s actually really powerful when you help people find things that improve their confidence. It makes people quite happy when they find products that they love,” she says.
Erin’s must-haves: Josh Rosebrook Vital Balm, Kjaer Weis Lipgloss, Osea Cleansing Milk, Hynt Beauty Concealer.
Signature look: an even base, a hint of mascara and natural-looking brows.

To kick off my first blog post of 2018, I thought I would share my haul from Clean Beauty Market – a beautiful store located on the Gold Coast which sells non-toxic and ethical products. Think everything from makeup, skincare, haircare and personal care! I have always been conscious of the ingredients and chemicals in my products, so I am always on the hunt for high quality natural and organic products.
When I arrived I was greeted by the lovely Erin who is the owner of Clean Beauty Market. Erin is so knowledgable and was really helpful at picking out my makeup shades for me. The space itself is beautiful, light and clean with all products laid out and easy to navigate. There is a really nice vibe in the store that makes you want to hang around all day.

I have been a lover of Lara Worthington’s (nee Bingle) company The Base ever since it launched a few years ago. Since its launch, The Base has expanded its product line and since I am a big fan of the LB Cream and other products, I needed to give the newbies a whirl.

Japanese stores are always full of cute and quirky items; especially if you take a trip down the beauty aisle. There is a Daiso store just up the road from me and I always like to check out what interesting items they have.

I remember a time when I only thought you could exfoliate your skin by using abrasive scrubs – how young and naive I was. Exfoliation is the key to beautiful glowing skin because it sloughs off dead skin cells and allows for better product absorption. The questions most people ask me are: how often should I be exfoliating, and what type of exfoliator should I use? I always say this truly does depend on your skin type and concerns. For most people exfoliating 2-3 times per week is more than enough, however for me I exfoliate more frequently as I suffer from congested skin. There are several types of exfoliation methods: chemical, enzymatic and physical – which can be a bit confusing, but I will explain all.
